Like many other car brands, Maserati will only sell 100% electric models until 2030. Until then, the trident brand will have both: good old-fashioned piston engines and zero-emission energy. The new version of GranTurismo perfectly embodies this duality. Designed on an all-new chassis made of 65% aluminium, it replaces the model launched in 2007 and disappeared from the catalog in 2019, appreciated for its elegant style and above all for the howls of its gorgeous atmospheric V8. At 4.96 meters in length, it falls into the category of large luxury coupes and will face the benchmark of the genre, the Bentley Continental GT.

The design remains very close to the spirit of this previous GranTurismo, with a similar silhouette and stylistic codes simply adapted to the times. There is also a large grille adorned with the trident, elongated optics, a long domed hood and a very voluminous rear. Maserati isn’t revealing any interior images for now, but we already know that the car will have a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center console plus a 12.2-inch instrument cluster and a third 8-inch screen. 8 inches. Of course, there’s no more naturally aspirated V8, but the new Maserati GranTurismo still offers the option of a powerful internal combustion engine: a 3.0-litre biturbo V6 very similar to the recent MC20 supersport, with some modifications. structure to adapt it to the “big tourism” genre. It now receives a wet sump instead of a dry sump and develops 490 horsepower and 600 Nm in the basic “Modena” version, coupled with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This GranTurismo Modena weighs 1795 kg, reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 13 seconds and reaches 302 km/h at top speed. In the top-of-the-range “Trofeo” variant, the V6 rises to 550 horsepower and 650 Nm. The car claims the same mass, but it only needs 3.5 seconds to descend from 0 to 100 km/h, 11.4 seconds for 0 to 200 km/h, and it can run at 320 km/h.

Straight-line performance largely eclipsed by that of the Folgore, the 100% electric version of the GranTurismo. Equipped with three electric motors with a total power of 1200 horsepower, it limits its maximum power to 760 horsepower to guarantee maximum autonomy. Weighing 2,260 kg on the scale, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h. Authentic straight-line supercar figures that only make us fear for the brakes, whose size (380 mm discs at the front with 6-piston calipers and 350 mm discs at the rear with four pistons) is not increased despite the 465 kilos added to the scale. .

Packed with technology, equipped with a new electronic control unit and a torque vector transmission that promises to be tasty in sporty driving, this new GranTurismo will be traded from €175,000 in its basic Modena version.
