Electric car. The first 360 kW charging station opened in France

The first 360 kW charging station was opened by Kallista Energy in Normandy for the Yaway network. Its power can restore 100 km of autonomy to an electric car in less than 5 minutes. It remains to have a compatible vehicle…

The fastest terminal in France has just opened in Normandy. Allows charging to 360 kW.

Imagine, when having a coffee at the service station of a motorway service area, your electric car has regained as much autonomy as a thermal car. A dream that almost comes true. That’s really what the first Yaway station, a charging network created by energy company Kallista Energy, enables. Located in Normandy between Douains and Vernon, close to the A13 and 80 km from Paris, this station benefits from the first two ABB Terra 360 terminals, to date, the most powerful in our territory. They offer the possibility to charge at 360 kW, that is, 10 kW more than Ionity terminals and almost 100 kW more than Tesla superchargers.

No cars compatible with this power yet in France

Each of the two terminals has two charging points, but only one will be operational at first.

A power that can recover almost 500 km in less than a quarter of an hour… as long as you have an electric car capable of it! Because today no model sold in France accepts such a high power. On the podium of the cars that support the most kW, we find the Porsche Taycan/Audi e-tron GT duo with up to 270 kW at peak and the Tesla Model 3 with 250 kW. Substantial powers that already make it possible to recover around 300 km in 20 minutes, but which still do not compete with the filling time of a thermal car.

Despite this discrepancy, the terminals installed by Kallista are, however, operational for all electric cars recalls Vanessa Bisconti-Cateau, Director of ABB E-mobility: ” This ABB Terra 360 terminal, in addition to its unique power on the market, is compatible with all electric vehicles, has innovative design and ergonomics. Its 5 meter cable is suitable for all configurations to adapt to parking lots and car design.»

Kallista wants to deploy 90 ultra-fast charging stations in France.

Because even if this first station is a pilot site for the energy company, it is intended to be replicated. ” NOOur pilot station Vernon-Douains is the first step towards the roll-out of our network of 90 very high-power charging stations throughout France. In particular, it will allow us to leverage user feedback to provide the best service to drivers, regardless of vehicle make and model. explains Johann Tardy, managing director of Kallista Energy.

Cheap electricity provided by wind turbines

The station opened on September 22 in the presence of employees.

Vernon-Douains station is now accessible and charges its per minute charges (€0.605/min) and has two charging points that will increase to 4 (2 per terminal). Kallista plans to open up to 48 charging points at its future stations, depending on demand and connection possibilities with its wind turbines. Each station must, in fact, be connected to two wind turbines operated by the energy company. A model that should eventually make it possible to offer customers cheap electricity thanks to the proximity to the source of production. A configuration that the pilot site at Vernon-Douains will not benefit from due to its proximity to an airbase.
