The new Peugeot 308 will therefore not remain just a plug-in hybrid. The compact sedan and its breakaway version will be electric in 2023. They are renamed the Peugeot e-308 and Peugeot e-308 SW for the occasion, in line with the rest of the Lion’s electric range. The manufacturer announces the launch of these two electric models a few weeks before the start of the Paris Motor Show 2022.

Available in Allure and GT finishes, the electric version of the Peugeot 308 is visually distinguished by its Matrix LED headlamps, but also by its 18-inch aerodynamic aluminum rims. Inevitably, the “e” logos remind us of the electric motor hidden at the bottom of the Peugeot e-308.

Completely new, this powertrain includes a 156 horsepower electric motor for 260 Nm of torque. It also has a “new generation” high voltage battery, with a capacity of 54 kWh, or 51 useful kWh. According to the WLTP homologation cycle, the range is over 400 kilometers. At Peugeot, we advance an average consumption of 12.7 kWh per 100 kilometers for this e-308 and its e-308 SW brake variant.

This new Peugeot e-308 and e-308 SW is recharged using alternating current (AC) via the integrated 11 kW three-phase charger. It can also be carried out in a 100 kW public terminal to go “from 20 to 80% load in less than 25 minutes”, in the words of the French manufacturer.

On board the Peugeot e-308 we find the famous Peugeot i-Cockpit, with its compact and heated steering wheel, its 3D head-up digital instrument panel and its 10-inch touchscreen. A Brake mode – dedicated to regenerative braking – is available to recover energy on deceleration and thus drive most of the time with the accelerator pedal. The car finally has steering aids such as adaptive cruise control, long-range blind-spot monitoring or even rear traffic alert.
