And on the sidelines of the 2022 World Cup…

“And on the sidelines of the 2022 World Cup”…

Why this section? Because there are a lot of new products this fall, and you can certainly expect to see them all on our “Mondial de l’auto” mini site, where you traditionally find new models from all manufacturers.

However, several manufacturers have chosen not to be present at this edition of the Paris Motor Show 2022, a certain number of new products will not be displayed at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, and in particular the one presented in this article. In order to give you an exhaustive overview and meet your expectations, we have chosen to publish them on the Caradisiac mini-site dedicated to the Paris Motor Show, but in a special section “And on the sidelines of the Paris Motor Show”.

Like Volkswagen, Mercedes or Renault, Opel is present in the segment of vans equipped with the Zafira Life Crosscamp Flex, which obviously has nothing to do with the old compact MPV launched on the market in 1999. Since 2019, the name “Zafira Life” actually refers to a large family van based on the Vivaro utility (cousin of the Citroën Jumpy and Peugeot Expert). In its Crosscamp Flex version, designed in collaboration with the company Crosscamp, which has long specialized in accessories for vans, Opel competes in its own way with the Volkswagen California, the Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo or the recent Renault Trafic SpaceNomad.

And on the occasion of the Dusseldorf 2022 show, the lightning brand will present a 100% electric version of its van. The Zafira e-Life Crosscamp Flex in fact ditches diesel in favor of a 136 horsepower electric motor, powered by batteries with a capacity of 75 kWh. A powertrain that officially allows a maximum range of 322 kilometers. All with a fast charging capacity of 100 kW, allowing you to recover 80% of the charge in 48 minutes. Its equipment will include, inter alia, 180-degree swiveling front seats, kitchenette, sink, gas stove and built-in cupboards, as well as tanks for drinking water and wastewater. It will have four sleeping places divided into two beds.

It remains to be seen whether the 100% electric motorization will convince customers of this type of vehicle, knowing that they usually travel long distances in places far from large cities. It is true that the fast charging network in France and Europe now allows travel thanks to the strong development of recent years. But is electric technology compatible with the big adventure trips without a precise roadmap that fans of the “van life” love? The Zafira e-Life Crosscamp Flex will join the lineup next year, presumably at prices in excess of €60,000. It will be followed by a less equipped “Lite” version.

Caradisiac, partner of the Paris Motor Show

As in 2018, Caradisiac is once again a partner in 2022 of the Mondial de l’Auto which will take place in Paris from 17 to 23 October. Caradisiac’s editorial team will therefore be moved to its own stand during the fair to analyse, dissect, photograph and film all the new models. And of course this will also be an opportunity for you to come, as you are used to, to meet our journalists. Which new or used car to buy? They will answer all your questions. Until then, we will give you in Caradisiac all the information we could get from the manufacturers about their new models.
