State, region, municipalities, we tell you all about the bonuses you can benefit from in Occitania

Since August 15, 2022, the State has extended the conditions for obtaining “bicycle bonuses” for the purchase of an electric bicycle. A system that can be added to regional and local aid throughout the Occitania region.

The idea has been in your head for several weeks “What if I leave my old car and buy an e-bike?” The desire is strong, but you have to recognize that prices have something to soothe you. The state may have just provided the little push you need to make you take the leap.

Since August 15, 2022, the conditions for obtaining aid will be effectively relaxed by the State. This “bike bonus”, which until now amounted to a maximum of €200, has been increased and adjusted according to the conditions of the household’s resources. These devices respond to a strong desire to encourage as many of us as possible to opt for a non-polluting mode of transport.

1“Bike Bonus” Bonus

The amount of State aid is fixed at 40% of the purchase cost of the bicycle, within the limit of:

  • 400 euros for the most modest households (whose reference tax income per share is less than €6,300) and people with disabilities;
  • 300 euros for households whose reference unit tax income is between €6,300 and €13,489.

Likewise, the bonus limit for purchasing a cargo bike (or a folding bicycle, a bicycle adapted for people with disabilities – electrically assisted or not -, or an electric bicycle trailer), which was 1,000 euros until August 14, is fixed at:

  • € 2,000 for the most modest households (whose reference tax income per share is less than €6,300) and people with disabilities;
  • € 1,000 for households whose reference unit tax income is between €6,300 and €13,489.

All persons with disabilities are eligible for the bicycle bonus.

You can also benefit from a conversion bonus in exchange for a bet dismantling an old “polluting” gasoline or diesel vehicle. This bonus can be combined with the bike bonus.

Again, the value of the conversion premium is equal to 40% of the acquisition cost, within the limit of:

  • € 3,000 for the most modest households (whose reference tax income per share is less than €6,300) and people with disabilities;
  • € 1,500 to other homes.

3“ZFE” Awards

Note for people living in cities with low mobility emission zones (ZFE, part of a territory of limited access for the most polluting vehicles), such as Toulouse and Montpellier, the State also grants additional help up to 1000 euros provided the beneficiary has received local help for the same bicycle.

4Occitania region aid system

After national aid, you can still benefit from a bonus from the Region Occitania. These measures takes the form of an “eco-cheque”. Beneficiaries can receive from 200 euros in aid for the purchase of a bicycle. However, it remains subject to income-related conditions. To test your eligibility, go to Region website.

Occitania has also created a sustainable mobility package bonus. It goes beyond the sustainable mobility package offered by the employer. These 2 aids are cumulative.

The Sustainable Mobility Package is aid conditional onbicycle use. It is activated by the employer. This aid is set at €200 for public sector workers and €400 for private sector workers.

5Local help from the department and urban communities

Other communities have also established assistance operations for the purchase of an electric bicycle. There are departments, like Hérault, for example, that offers Vouchers “Hérault Mobilité” and “Hérault Vélo”. In the amount of 200 or 250 €, these checks will be complemented by a “Hérault Pichòt” bonus for the purchase of a bicycle seat or stroller. The amounts paid also depend on your income.

Urban communities can also offer financing such as the Grand Albigensian which offers “for any purchase of a classic bicycle, electric bicycle or cargo bicycle (…) VAT of the bicycle, up to: €100 for a classic bike or folding bike, €250 for an electrically assisted bicycle (VAE), €500 for a cargo bike.

But BEWARE, not all departments and communities of municipalities or agglomerations offer this type of financial support for the purchase of an electric bicycle. INVESTIGATE. You will not lose. All these bonuses from nationals to locals, including regionals, can be combined (with rare exceptions). The perfect opportunity when some cargo bikes can cost up to 6,000 euros.
