Several models of new 100% electric cars with a more affordable price are expected. Review of potential next favorites of zero-emission drivers.
The offer of electric vehicles is still struggling to be democratized with a majority of new vehicles currently in the catalog whose price (excluding ecological bonus) exceeds 30,000 euros. This is the case, for example, of a “simple” Renault Zoé, whose prices currently start at 33,700 euros or a Peugeot e-208, at 33,170 euros.
Electric cars under 30,000 euros are still not very numerous and generally remain small models, practical for everyday use, but not very suitable for family holidays, for example. We can thus mention the Dacia Spring (19,800 euros), the Renault Twingo (24,050 euros) or the Fiat 500e (26,200 euros).
More affordable models to fit into the “family” category: the SUV MG ZS EV and the MG5 station wagonboth from 32,990 euros excluding grants.
It is also the British brand, which belongs to the Chinese group SAIC, which opens our selection of these models that are about to be launched for less than 30,000 euros.
MG, once again, has just opened pre-sales for its next model: a versatile sedan called the MG4.
With its length of 4.29 meters, it should offer more versatility than a small city car. Two versions will be offered with a range of 350 km or 450 km and two engines, 170 or 204 horsepower.
The basic version will cost less than 30,000 euros, with sales scheduled for next autumn.
It was one of the favorites of the Munich show in September 2021: the first model from a Chinese manufacturer still unknown in Europe, the Ora Cat 01.
At 4.24 meters long, it can also play the role of a versatile compact, with a very successful exterior design.
On the battery side, two versions should be offered, 49 kWh and 63 kWh, offering between 300 and 400 km of autonomy, all with a 163 horsepower engine.
Sold before the summer in the UK, this car will be launched in Germany in the coming months, Automobile Propre reports, while waiting for France. The opportunity also to discover its official name for Europe: the Ora Funky Cat. How not to crack?
Fisker is a bit like Tesla’s perennial rival… and he hasn’t had the same success. After an SUV, the Ocean, the American brand is preparing to launch a more compact model, and above all more affordable, with the hope that the car will be offered below our limit of 30,000 euros.
A little patience will be needed, however, as its marketing would be planned for 2024, with an unofficial TopElectricSUV visual spotted by Frandroid.
In addition to some still very conceptual looks of the interior and exterior, we still know little about this model that will be produced in the United States.
A big name in the French auto industry and the promise of an electric car for less than 30,000 euros: has Renault found the winning formula to (really) democratize the electric car? If Zoé played a pioneering role in converting many French people, the R5 represents the promise of finally affordable zero emissions.
After a manifesto-concept, which introduced the new diamond in passing and therefore proposed to resurrect this legendary model, we finally still know little about this model, whose commercialization is scheduled for 2024.
While waiting to learn more about its performance, Renault has already decided to produce it in France, at its factory in Douai (North).

Other models are expected with a new price tag of less than 30,000 euros.
Among the most anticipated is the $25,000 Tesla promised by Elon Musk in September 2020 and which he planned for… 2023. Fans of the American brand gave it the nickname “Model 2”, but Tesla didn’t say much about it. this vehicle since… Continue!
In the wake of the R5, Renault also announced the return of the 4L. Few details too, but without a doubt a more compact and affordable version is approaching to integrate Renault’s range of 7 100% electric models promised for 2025.
On the Volkswagen side, the affordable zero-emission car will be called ID.2 with an already announced price between 20,000 and 25,000 euros and commercialization in 2025.
A little earlier, Hyundai has just announced that it will launch two small electric cars in Europe for less than 20,000 euros, writes Carscoops, a first in 2023 and a second at the end of 2024.
