Opel Mokka-e on long-term rental at €185/month, good or bad deal?

The Opel Mokka is one of the company’s best sellers in the Blitz and, by launching an electric version that is technically very close to the Peugeot e-2008, the German company aims to gain valuable market share. And to liven up its commercial offer, Opel presents a particularly attractive financing offer of €185/month for its electric SUV. Decryption.

In the world of 100% electric SUVs, there are some well-known French models like the Peugeot e-2008 or the Renault Mégane E-Tech, there are the Germans with the EQA and other BMW iX1s, but there is one model that we tend to forget a little too much. : the Opel Mokka-e. It is the technical cousin of the e-2008, and this model benefits from a motor, battery and equipment very close to the French SUV.

Opel offers an interesting financing offer for your Mokka-e with monthly payments starting from 185 euros per month. After having deciphered the offer for the Škoda Enyaq iV available from 299 euros/month, the Kia EV6 from 297 euros/month, the MG ZS EV at 99 euros/month, the Peugeot e-208 at 149 euros /month, the Renault Mégane E-Tech at 248 euros/month, the Volkswagen ID.3 at 229 euros/month, the Renault Twingo E-Tech at 79 euros/month, the Tesla Model 3 at less than 400 euros/month, the Mini Electric from 350 euros/month, the Hyundai Kona Electric from 139 euros/month, the Fiat 500 electric from 109 euros/month, the Nissan Leaf from 99 euros/month, the Volkswagen ID. 4 from 309 euros/month, the Opel Corsa- and from 145 euros/month, it is the turn of the Mokka-e which is 40 euros more expensive than its younger brother, the Corsa-e.

What model of the Opel Mokka-e is offered at 185 euros per month?

As with most “de” finance offers, this is the entry-level model, even if on Opel it is the second trim level in the range, as the electric Mokka is not available in the base version. It is, therefore, an Opel Mokka-e in its “Edition” finish with a series of very interesting equipment:

  • 16-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels, Silver;
  • 7-inch digital instrument panel;
  • Manual air conditioning;
  • LED daytime running lights;
  • Bluetooth Multimedia Radio 7-inch color screen;
  • Charging cable Mode 2 – 3.7 kW.

Some essential items are missing, such as parking radars or the reversing camera. The base color is quite original as it is a “Vert Ikone” model. On the other hand, if you want to add one or two options (including colors), you immediately exit the offer and the monthly payments increase. Good point too, alloy wheels are available as standard.

All Opel Mokka-e’s are equipped with an electrical 136 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The battery has a capacity of 50 kWh and allows 340 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The Mokka did not receive the Peugeot e-2008 update that now allows it to display a more generous range of 362 km.

What are the conditions to be eligible for the Opel Mokka-e LLD offer?

This is a long-term rental offer in 36 months and 500 kilometers maximum per month. To access your monthly mileage, Opel uses your vehicle’s connectivity. It is equipped with a SIM card, allowing you to operate the emergency call, but also connected (myOpel) features, such as turning on the air conditioning remotely. This same SIM card can be used to track the kilometers driven by the driver. Each additional kilometer will be charged 7 euro cents.

The website indicates that the offer of 185 euros per month is subject to a contribution of 2,000 euros. The contribution is 10,500 euros at the base, but it is absorbed by the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros and the conversion bonus of 2,500 euros, which therefore requires the scrapping of an old vehicle.

To qualify for the conversion bonus, an older diesel or gasoline model must be scrapped. The old scrapped vehicle must be a car or van with a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3500 kg. The date of the first registration must be before 2011 for diesel engines and before 2006 for gasoline.

The vehicle must have belonged to the beneficiary for at least one year, while the tax reference income per unit indicated in the tax notice of your income from the previous year must be less than or equal to €13,489.

How much will the Opel Mokka-e LLD offer cost you

More than three years of long-term rental, your Mokka-e will cost €8,475. Opel displays its car from 36,500 euros on its website, ecological bonus of 6,000 euros and conversion bonus of 2,500 euros not deducted. This gives us, once deductions have been made, a model displayed at list price in € 28,000. You still need to be eligible for the conversion bonus, because as you’ve seen above, that won’t necessarily be the case for everyone.

From this price, you will pay during the three years of rent 30.2% of the price of your car. This is the overall discount over three years for this type of car. As the offer is not an LOA, there is no option to repurchase the vehicle. It will therefore be necessary to return the car at the end of the financing.

As always, please be aware of repainting costs that can be expensive at the time of return. We advise you to do this first at a bodybuilder, as it will cost you less than at your dealership in general. If you take a vehicle back to your dealer after your LLD, they will also be a little less careful about repair costs.

What are the advantages of the Opel Mokka-e LLD offer

unquestionably, The price is the number one advantage of this offer. A 100% electric SUV, which is also relatively well equipped (although a little petty) at less than €200/month, is quite advantageous. Even better, the Opel Mokka-e is a little better equipped than the e-2008, being a little cheaper and, for once, more original as the Mokka is a little less common on our roads.

The contribution is not very high for this type of financing, even if it is greatly swallowed up by the various government aids. Without them, the contribution would be much higher or, conversely, monthly payments would easily exceed €400/month, which becomes a completely different budget.

What are the disadvantages of the Opel Mokka-e LLD offer

The offer is immediately conditioned by the conversion bonus, an aid to which few customers are eligible. The prescribed mileage over the three years is very low, with 18,000 kilometers over the lease term in total. (500 km multiplied by 36 months). This will suit most users for everyday use, but it doesn’t leave much room for long trips, not to mention you’ll have to pay the 7 cents per additional mile.

To make matters worse, the Opel Mokka-e has the same engine as a Peugeot e-208 or a Corsa-e, an engine that has a certain appetite for kWh. With this, the autonomy will not exceed 200 kilometers on the highway, for example. On the other hand, a purely urban use, 400 km on a single charge is possible. It remains to determine its use.
