Restrictions on water use starting this Friday, June 3, in the Cher and Sichon basins on the Allier

The prefecture issued a decree, which takes effect this Friday, June 3, with the aim of limiting certain water uses in all municipalities in the Cher and Sichon river basins. Mayor Valérie Hatsch indicates that she made this decision “after electronic consultation with members of the departmental water committee”.

A significant deficit of rainfall

The city government justifies this decision by the “rainfall deficit” that the department has been experiencing since the beginning of the year. “It reaches 53% at the departmental level, according to data from Météo France. Due to this high rainfall deficit, the department’s river flows are low. »

Hence the decision to put the entire department on alert and therefore the Cher and Sichon basins on alert. There are two other levels: high alert and crisis level.

This municipal decree will be posted in the municipal councils and can be consulted on the website through this link: www.allier.gouv.fr.

In the Loire and Allier basins, activation of the drought surveillance level

“Avoid all forms of waste”

In the watersheds placed under surveillance, “all users and economic actors are invited to adopt an eco-responsible behavior and to avoid any form of water wastage”, indicates the city hall.

He adds that “depending on the evolution of the hydrological situation, the restriction measures may be extended and/or reinforced in the coming days”. They are valid until September 30th.

Valérie Hatsch will meet the departmental water committee this Friday to provide a detailed update on water resources at Allier.
