(Boursier.com) — Semperis, a pioneer in automated solutions that allow companies to restore their data after a cyberattack, today announced that it has raised more than $200 million in a Series C fundraising round led by KKR, with participation from Ten Eleven Ventures, Paladin Capital Group, Atrium Health Strategic Fund, Tech Pioneers Fund and existing investors including Insight Partners. According to a ranking compiled by the Financial Times, Semperis is the fastest growing cybersecurity company in the United States in 2022.
This new funding will allow Semperis to accelerate its recruitment for all its activities around the world in order to better serve an ever-expanding clientele. The Group also intends to increase its teams responsible for responding to incidents related to identity.
Identity systems such as Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD, used by over 90% of companies, are sometimes under sustained attack. Through its multi-layered approach to defense – before, during and after an attack – Semperis offers the industry’s most comprehensive security technology for all identity systems – hybrid AD and beyond – combined with incident response.
“From the beginning, Semperis has made it a mission to be a driving force in the service of the smooth running of the business”, stated Mickey Bresman, CEO of Semperis and co-founder of the group with Guy Teverovsky and Matan Liberman. “With the multi-layered identity protection offered by Semperis, organizations can defend against cyberattacks without being forced to choose between two harmful options: pay the criminals or be shut down. Through the combined experience with KKR, Ten Eleven Ventures, Insight Partners and other prestigious investors, in developing high-growth cybersecurity companies, we now form a group of high-profile strategic partners to advance our mission.”
KKR is investing in Semperis through the Next Generation Technology Growth Fund II, a fund dedicated to investment opportunities in growth companies operating in the technology sector. Ben Pederson, Director responsible for the Tech Growth team at KKR, joins the Semperis board of directors.
“A very loyal customer base, including a growing number of the world’s largest organizations, trust Semperis to defend their identity systems against cyberattacks,” said Ben Pederson. “Most attacks today are identity-based, targeting credentials to infiltrate the business. Semperis’ cutting-edge identity protection technology and incident response expertise is an innovation, and KKR is proud to support that mission. “
In addition to expanding its workforce, Semperis allocates a significant portion of its research and development credits to continue innovating in the identity systems defense market, with particular emphasis on its Directory Services Protector platform, which Gartner categorizes as Identity Threat. Detection and Response (ITDR solutions). Gartner has included the ITDR area in its 2022 Cybersecurity Top Trends, indicating that the misuse of credentials is one of the top methods used by hackers to gain access to internal corporate systems.
“Sempiris is continually innovating in one of the most neglected and critical areas of cybersecurity: defending identity systems,” said Mark Hatfield, founder and general partner of Ten Eleven Ventures. “This funding, which is one of the largest cybersecurity fundraising rounds to date, will allow Semperis to continue to strengthen its leadership position in a rapidly expanding market segment.”
“We are delighted to help fund Semperis and continue our mutually beneficial strategic partnership,” said Teddie Wardi, Managing Director of Insight Partners. “We believe in Semperis’ approach to securing the core identity infrastructure, combining state-of-the-art technology and incident response support, to provide customers with a comprehensive defense of their security systems.
Frost & Sullivan presented Semperis with the 2022 Competitive Strategy Leadership Award, recognizing the company’s innovation and customer impact in the global AD security and recovery market. “Semperis has unparalleled experience in intrusion detection and incident response to Active Directory and other identity-based cyberattacks,” said Sarah Pavlak, director of industry at Frost & Sullivan. “The solutions provided by Semperis are based not only on cutting-edge technology to meet customer expectations, but also on best practices and personalized advice for companies and individuals. A positioning that differentiates the Group from its competitors.”
