The company Alexis Robert, specialist in distribution of DIY products and industrial suppliesbased in Villemandeur (Loiret), has just joined the Chavigny Group.
The Chavigny Group is more than 120 years of history and innovation and consolidated itself as a key player in the sector construction and transport in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
A family business since 1896
The family business created in 1896 was able to adapt to the evolution of the market diversifying your activities and make strategic acquisitions.
The group now includes eight businesses and, with 75 sites, has a strong network in its home region.
In 2022, the Chavigny Group continues its development with the acquisition of Alexis Robert, located in Villemandeur, which will allow it to expand its metals and hardwarebut also its catchment area with its first establishment on the Loiret.
A strategic and significant acquisition
The external growth operation with the acquisition of the company Alexis Robert took place on April 1st. An “ambitious operation” communicates the group, which specifies the pros and cons:
A choice that owes nothing to chance: the group already has a metal and hardware business, currently located in the departments of Sarthe and Eure-et-Loir. This acquisition thus allows him to establish himself in a new department in the Center-Val de Loire region.
During 2022, the Alexis Robert company will, however, be “piloted independently of the Chavigny distribution network, in order to capitalize on the recognition that the company has forged in its geographic sector. for more than two centuries “, says the group.
The integration of Alexis Robert will be facilitated by his recent addition to the network of professional distributors COFAQ – Masterpro.
Alexis Robert: for eight generations
Alexis Robert is a company specializing in the distribution of DIY products and industrial supplies (hardware, gardening, portable power, steel, etc.). It is present in the agglomeration of Montargis (Loiret) for eight generations, it therefore enjoyed a very strong reputation.

There are 5,000 m² of sales, storage and warehouse area;

Three complementary distribution channels
The company markets its wide range of products through three distribution channels:
Alexis Robert includes a 3,600m² DIY and industrial goods store, a 1,800m² metal park and an e-shop (www.bricoselect.com) allowing it to be present in the main marketplaces such as ManoMano, Amazon and CDiscount. Alexis Robert thus reaches a large clientele, made up of professionals (industry, artisans, local authorities) and private individuals.
Grupo Chavigny: a regional player in transport and construction
With 75 sites, including 34 branches and 809 employees, the Chavigny Group now intends to play a key role in the Center-Val de Loire region.
It is also present in two departments of the Pays de la Loire (Sarthe and Maine and Loire) like this New Aquitaine (Vienna)is at Paris Region (Essonne).
Its clientele is made up of 70% professionals.
Key dates over two centuries
1792 – A woman enters the nail business that her husband forges in the backyard. Very quickly, this enterprising character diversified her business and began retailing iron to her customers and then to her colleagues. The generations will succeed one another at the head of the company.
1870 – Alexis Robert survives the war and then experiences periods of euphoria (development of steam and steel). The family then embarked on the flourishing trade in coal and the first tools.
1918 – After the Great War, Alexis Robert recovers from the economic difficulties experienced when launching himself into the production of manufactured products.
World War II – One of the two brothers then associated dies and the period until the end of the conflict is particularly hard. The family mobilized and, in the post-war world, responded to demand by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by industrialization (new products at the hardware store), expanding and investing in automobiles to replace horses.
1973 – Alexis Robert moves to settle in the new industrial area of Villemandeur, on the outskirts of Montargis. Very quickly, success is with the go and you need to quickly double, triple and even quadruple the sales area. Information technology is also showing up in the company.
2000 – The acquisition of a new building increases the operational area to more than 5,000 m². More than 30,000 references are managed and the activity continues to develop at a sustained pace.
2009 – Alexis Robert creates an e-shop to sell remotely to individuals and professionals (industrialists, artisans, local authorities, farmers).
2021 – Alexis Robert’s website takes the name BRICOSELECT.
The group benefits from expertise in almost all areas:
■ Careers : exploration of three sites (Thoré-la-Rochette, Montoire-sur-le-Loir and Thiville).
■ Energy : the group supplies heating oil, diesel on and off-road, lubricants, fuel additives, industrial soaps and other products within a radius of 50 km around sell me.

■ Recycling : the group has 5 sorting centers that collect common industrial waste, cardboard and paper, wood, electronic waste and metals.
A family success story that has been written for over a century.
The fourth generation of Chavigny arrived at the helm of the company in 1996. Anne and Pascal Chavigny continued to develop the group: they created the Maison Passion brand near Blois, launched a recycling activity with Cap Recyclage and multiplied acquisitions: Thoreau, Colomat, Comptoir Métallurgique Chartin and Limours Matériaux join the group.
Today, the Chavigny group continues to evolve by standardizing its brands. The fifth generation is already behind the scenes, preparing to continue this saga!
